A quick review of jambase yielded several results. The first to catch my eye was that of Glen David Andrews, who performs monday nights at D.B.A. in the French Quarter, New Orleans. A trombone player myself from middle through high school - this was something special. I had no idea that playing a trombone could ever be so much fun as Glen David made it seem Monday, January 11th, 2010.
We get stuck in our ways, too much that we only see a handful of bands, and a trip to NOLA is a great way to get out of a rut. There would be no Phish, no Trey, no Umphrey's, not a spot of Keller Williams nor the likes of a Zach Deputy to be found. Nope, even if I wanted to see it, I wouldn't pay $130.00 to go see Willie Nelson either night at HOB, having just seen him this summer at Rothbury.
So I went to the club. I met this guy. And then my socks were blown the f off.
HISTORY
Not only did he rock JazzFest in 2009, but he's slated to appear again this year. Seriously, we need to expose more people to this type of music here in Michigan!
Researching this, I ran across several hits you should check out.
Glen David Andrews was in Spike Lee's Movie "When the Levee Breaks":
